Spain | Begona + Mark

Madrid wedding photography at Antigua Fábrica de Harinas.

Our first call with Begona and Mark happened across four different countries: Spain, UK, Hong Kong and India! Begona is Spanish and Mark is Irish. We were immediately drawn to Begona’s cheerful laughter and Mark’s calm demeanour. How they completed each other’s sentences was so lovely to hear.

Set in a restored old flour mill, Begona and Mark’s wedding at Antigua Fábrica de Harinas in Madrid was nothing short of breathtakingly beautiful. The textured, ivy covered tangerine walls surrounded by pink bougainvillea bushes made for a perfect backdrop for this evening wedding. Set amidst large gardens and canals, the flour mill was built around 1210, but abandoned at the beginning of the 20th century. It got a new lease of life when it was bought in 1985, and was restored to the picturesque building it is today.

It was a riot of laughter and fun as all the bridesmaids got ready alongside Begona. Mark and his groomsmen started the proceedings with a celebratory bottle of champagne. They had thought of every small little detail like setting up hats, heel protectors, parasols and hand fans for their guests.

The happiness was infectious as Begona entered with her dad, radiant and smiling ear to ear. Under the dazzling 7PM sun and clear blue skies, there wasn’t a single dry eye in the house when the highly personalised Spanish-Irish wedding commenced.

In the dimly lit dinner hall, the wrought iron chandeliers added a warm glow to everyone’s happy faces. The evening was filled with hearty laughter and dazzling smiles.

The day ended with everyone kicking off their shoes and partying wildly and having the time of their lives.
